The 2020 recruit was one of the leading rushers in his classification this year. He’s got solid open field speed with above average toughness slipping out tackles. The 2020 back is skinny. At 165 lbs he needs to add another 15-20 lbs now. He’s a quick accelerator and can make cuts on a dime. Even at the 2nd and 3rd level of the defense Gaines makes players miss with consistency. He doesn’t over use fakes and is a pretty tough player to tackle too. Good balance, breaks though a fair amount of arm tackles on film. He sees cutback angles pretty well, and good timing too. Mundy’s Mill was in ball games this year, not really typical for this team, and Gaines was the offensive engine for the team. If he adds weight to his frame, I can see colleges being very intrigued. Speed is solid, but quickness is where Gaines thrives.
