McCarty had a solid year manning the middle for Harrison, is very active reading the play and pursuing the ball carrier. He does a good job of recognizing the play and how his assignment figures into it – good film room player. I like how hard he tackles, does a good job of finishing, and think his frame will only continue to add a lot of weight into the near 230-240 range. McCarty does a good job of squaring up his attempts, I would like to see him be a little more explosive in the hips with his tackles. Overall, he shows good acceleration going after the ball carrier, he has a nice initial burst, solid lateral quick to allow him to make difficult 1 v 1 tackles against FBS caliber RB’s. McCarty should see a range of offers from FBS-FCS during his recruitment.
