Smith plays the game with a lot of passion and demonstrates really good speed getting out to the flat to make a tackle. He pursues after the ball carrier at all cost. Improving his overall strength would help a good bit in getting the ball carrier down quicker, which is certainly an area he can improve. Smith needs to do a better job of engaging with the block, ripping through and getting into the backfield. He is a very aggressive linebacker. No doubt he has good speed with plenty of plays of him sprinting out to the sideline to make a tackle. You can tell just by watching his offensive film where his long running stride is on display. Filling out his frame and it’s easy to see Smith become a pretty solid WILL. Created and recovered his share of fumbles this year – Smith explodes through his tackle attempts showing better form this year in fact.
