Lanier has a good frame and tested out well with a 9’1″ broad jump and a 31″ vertical leap at our combine during his sophomore offseason. The 2021 linebacker did well at a GACA camp ranking out as one of the top 3 linebackers. Lanier had 80 tackles and 8 tackles for loss while also posting 5.5 sacks on the year too – not bad for a junior season with no prior varsity exp. He has continued to improve, and really getting his first year as a starting OLB, Lanier has looked pretty good. His above average lateral quickness to go along with hustle allows for him to make his fair share of plays. Long arms, makes tough shoe string tackles. Has some upside for sure. Had 3 fumble recoveries, 1 interception and also 6 tackles for loss his juniro year. One area he has improved on over the last year is weight. Lanier is now 190 lbs. Got to like his physical tools and 8′ standing reach is also worth noting. Most likely Lanier will be over 200 lbs. a year from now, and in college he could really explode in the weight room.
