Mitchell’s junior year he proved to a solid defender making All-Region. He played off the edge in a 3 man front. At 6′ and 255 lb.s he is a shorter, stouter defender but pretty quick off the football. His first step is key, and consistently gets him an edge over bigger OL. Mitchell gets very low at the point of attack. He has quick hands and feet. Gets pretty good leverage getting off a block for having limited length. Mitchell’s motor and ability to get out and move on the perimeter is impressive – he makes several tackles towards the sideline on those qualities. He’s a good tackler, settling his feet into an attempt with a wide stance and drops his hips and drives his legs. Mitchell is very good at reading the play. He has a good football IQ and makes good consistent reads stopping the run. Senior year he has definitely added weight but still showing good quickness.
