Mason got his reps this season as a hybrid defensive back who plays closer to the LOS. Blitz him off the edge and you will see his energy and hustle get him into the backfield in a hurry. He’s a hungry football player, and his aggressive mindset creates a lot of negative plays for the offense. Lateral quickness is pretty good, enough that is able to line up his tackles well enough on film. He hustles to the ball and really looks to unload with a big hit, and overall I’m seeing much better tackling fundamentals this year getting low to the ground, and exploding more though the hips. Makes some solid play in coverage for an athlete primarily lining up a LB. Would like to see him continue to work on pursuit angles but overall love his toughness and energy he brings on each and every play.
