What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
Elijah Compton is an explosively fast defensive back; in 2017 he rotated three positions in the defensive backfield and is athletically gifted to play any defensive back position in college. His speed is elite, recently running a 4.45 official 40yd. dash. Elijah is a star track and field athlete as well. His official track times, early in the 2018 track season (14.7 – 110mH) (39.16 – 300 mH) rank him as one of the top hurdlers in the state and he also long jumps over 22 feet.
Compton is fast, but that’s about it. He doesn’t have a whole lot of football instincts, doesn’t play the game with a lot of urgency at least. His upside can be understood, his 40 time was confirmed at National Preps camp this spring, but without much film to back up a sub-4.5 40 time then I’m not sure where he will most likely land. This fall will be critical to get some legit varsity film.
