Marist DB’s are a well coached group and Dean Johnson appears to be no exception. He does a really good job of reading the QB’s eyes and jumping the pass. He has above average ball skills that allows him to play both slot and receiver in Marist’s flexbone offense. You also see those same skills translate nicely when he goes up for INTs. On offense he looks really quick with the ball in his hands, and he is tough physical runner. We also really like how tenacious of a blocker he is and you see that same physical play when he goes into tackles. His senior year he capitalizing on turnover opportunities and making the most of them in just a few short games. Johnson is just an all-around gamer with legit football speed. He’s making a lot more plays on the ball this year, breaking up a lot of passes where he times it up and rakes the ball out. Johnson is heavily slept on, and is an FBS/FCS caliber player.
