Washington-Wilkes emerged as one of the top teams in Class A Public this year, and some might ask why? Well, how about the emergence of Dalen Cobb. The uber-athletic quarterback who surprisingly enough has been killing defenses with his arm. Cobb certainly needs some more work moving around in the pocket and transferring his weight over when making a throw, but he does show some naturally good arm strength snapping off throws on a line 40 yards down field. He does a nice job of reading defenders in the open field, and makes smart cutbacks. Cobb reacts to the defense, and is pretty creative on the fly. His ability to hit top end speed right out of the gates though is what makes him such a promising recruit. It’s obvious that Cobb is an option QB at the next level, but he also shows the legit speed to play slot receiver or cornerback as well. You can fully expect Cobb to recruited heavy by all the option teams in the country, he fits exactly what they are looking for in a QB. 200M runner-up in Public and 400m relay team champs. Cobb is now power cleaning 300 lbs. too and set for a big senior year.
