Hodgins led his team in tackles this year with right 73 tackles. Open up his film, and you first see his ball skills on display. He makes a few nice body adjustment catches and shows good awareness while going up for a catch – toe-tapping the sideline when needed. Looking at him on defense and you see the 6’2″ prospect show above average reactions to the play. He has pretty long arms, and over the last year has gained a little over 10 lbs. Hodgins was committed to Jacksonville, but is now opened back due to the school closing down football ops. Hodgins plays in a run heavy offense, but still was a focal point in the passing game making touch catches down the middle and converting key 3rd downs. As a defender, he has good instincts reading routes and his solid agility converts tackles in open space – hence his 39 solos on the year. Does a nice job of settling into his tackle and doesn’t seem to overpusue much either but would like to see him get lower on his attempts in general. Definitely a + athlete that should continue to FCS and some high-level D1 interest.
