Payne is a slippery back who can a player miss in a tight space. He plays cornerback as well and has good instincts breaking on the ball – in fact this season you could argue that his film looked better on D than O. Regardless, Payne is just a natural football player and does a great job of squaring his pads up field and making the right cut to get as much yards as possible. He has good forward lean when running and maybe not breakaway speed but pretty good.
