Owensby was an impact player last year for the quarterfinalist Fannin Co. He totaled 103 tackles, 15 for a loss and pressured the QB 11 times earning first team All-Region in the process. Owensby pops on film with his good acceleration. He really pounces on the football making a few quick reaction interceptions off deflections. Owensby has long arms and looks like a menace in pass coverage. Really like how he gets downhill attacking the run. Does a very good job reading the holes on the run play and hitting the jets to get into the backfield. Nice angular body – definitely a legit 6’2″. Owensby has a lot of athletic upside. Would like to see him fill out more in the lower body, and just get stronger in the hips, but definitely like his sheer athleticism out there on the field. He has some versatility to his game. Needs to push over 200 lbs. and start working to 225, which is a nice weight for the high upside 2022 backer.
