Thompson stood out when we were watching some film of another player, and though he’s a baseball prospect as well, we were really impressed with the way he plays the game of football. He runs with a ton of determination, has a really nice understanding of timing his cuts and recognizing the angle the defender is making – it saves him a few times when he is escaping out of the pocket. Senior has above average arm strength, and can really get the ball out on a line from intermediate range. Slant passes he can really hammer the ball in there. Thompson will have to learn to get down at the next level, he’s a talented scrambler, but trying to truck over defenders in college will eventually end bad. He’s an exciting player for sure, and if you can corral his ability you can get a serious talent. If you watch further into his film you’ll become even more impressed with this ability to run the read option.
