Payne is just another big-time recruit in this class of 2022 defense for Buford. They seem to be loaded with talent at DB especially. Overall the 2022 recruit looks to have a legit P5 caliber frame at SS. He’s 6’2″ and moves his feet really well. Production in his highlights are just average really. Payne doesn’t leap on film with any big hits outside of plays where the ball carrier was originally tackled by a teammate and he just cleans it up. The overall lack of tackles on film is super interesting when looking at his college offers at the moment, but if we are talking upside in terms of size and athleticism, then yeah sure, he’s a P5 player. Went back through and watched Payne’s junior film now, it’s hard to argue against his speed and quickness to the football to go along with his size. He is extremely versatile, has long arms and can really play at so many positions.
