Potts had a solid season thru the air this year for Callaway, and at 6’4″ he poses a matchup nightmare on vertical routes. It goes without saying Potts has played some hoops in his life. He’s very comfortable using his body shield out the defensive back and does a very good job of squaring up his shoulders to make the catch. What is surprising though is Potts physicality even with his lower weight lifting numbers. He’s pretty tough to bring down for a lankier player, and shows good balance and leg drive breaking tackles after the catch. Potts is also a willing blocker, and on special teams unloads some pretty big hits too. I could see a lot of schools treating the senior as an athlete, and not really focusing on a specific position when recruiting Potts. His immediate impact is obviously on special teams, and if you consider his length and ability to close on a ball carrier, then you could see defensive coordinators advocate for him to get reps at safety. Either way, there is a lot of upside to Potts game, and should attract solid college interest for the final bit of the 2019 recruiting cycle.
